We just welcomed the first review of our new Rameau CD. From the biggest Dutch newspaper:
"The 20-year young Dutch reed Quintet Calefax produced a jubilee-CD for MDG that can be called a direct hit. Members of the group have arranged two harpsichord suites and one orchestral suite by Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764). Not knowing any better, one would assume the French master had actually composed these pieces for oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet and bassoon. For seventy minutes the listener is carried into an enchanting world by these wind players. Style and musical colour are so superb no 'authentic' performance could compete with it. A sublime sense of timing make the French ornamentations sound like improvisations. In short: here are five souls playing as one. These are masters!"
